This is a landscape composed of landforms formed by fluvial processes. Running water is the most common and active external force that shapes the morphology of the Earth’s surface, and rivers are the main form of flowing water. The vertical and lateral erosion by running water of a river can create various landforms of gullies and meanders. Erosion and deposition result in the formation of depositional landscape features, such as fluvial terraces, floodplains, alluvial fans and deltas. Fluvial landforms are important geological relics, and rivers that can be used for sightseeing, scientific research and leisure rafting are important tourism resources. The Three Gorges National Geopark, Huanghe (Yellow River) Hukou Waterfall National Geopark, Shaanxi Yanchuan Huanghe Meander National Geopark and Henan Zhengzhou Huanghe National Geopark are typical examples of geological parks with fluvial landforms as themes.
