Dajiangping pyrite deposit, Yunfu, Guangdong

This is a mega-scale pyrite deposit with large reserves and high-quality pyrite ores. Located in Yunfu County, western Guangdong Province, the Dajiangping pyrite deposit is composed of five ore bodies, which are lamellar and quasi-lamellar and are surrounded by homogeneous rocks. The ore-rich section of the deposit looks like a large lens. Geological surveys show that the pyrite reserves amount to more than 200 million tons. The ores are mainly pyrite with small amounts of other minerals, such as pyrrhotite, galena, and sphalerite. The ore bodies are shallow, and so most of the mines are opencast mines (Fig. 3).
