Synonym: Grass soil
Alpine meadow soil is also known as grass soil. It is an alpine soil that forms under meadow vegetation in moist and semi-humid alpine environments, usually above the forest line, where the surface layer contains a thick layer of grass roots and weak redox characteristics. These soils are mainly distributed in the eastern and southeastern parts of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau as well as in small areas to the northwest and northeast of the plateau.
