Alpine glaciers mainly refer to glaciers in the alpine zone at middle and low latitudes. These glaciers are linear and flow along low-lying valleys between mountains. Based on their mode of development, they can be categorised into cirque glaciers, hanging valley glaciers, valley glaciers and flat-topped glaciers (Fig. 10).
