Albite jade is considered a variety of jade by gemstone craftsman in China. It is made up of sodium silicate minerals. It mainly consists of feldspar, omphacite, epidote and chlorite. Its usual colours are white, greyish white, greyish green, green and colourless. Albite jade looks very similar to jadeite; it is often confused with real jadeite and can only be differentiated by professionals. In the trade, it is also called ‘Shuimozi (water foam jade)’. High-quality gemstone-grade albite jade ore mainly occurs together with jadeite, and it is currently mainly mined in Myanmar.
