The China’s First International Symposium on Granite Geology and Geomorphology – Mount Sanqingshan was held in Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, on 24–28 July 2006. It was organised by the Chinese Academy of Tourism Earth Science and Geopark Research, Geological Society of China. More than 100 geologists, geomorphologists and scenic area managers in the field of granite studies from the United States, Britain, Germany, Poland, Australia and Japan attended the symposium. More than 30 papers were submitted. The symposium was presided over by Anze Chen. The main discussions were on the basic theories of granite geology and geomorphology and the construction and management of granite scenic areas. It was the first international symposium on granite organised in China. The meeting facilitated the establishment of the Chinese Academy of Tourism Earth Science and Geopark Research, Geological Society of China - Granite Landscape Research Centre.
