This is a marine erosional landscape of granite. It is also known as Chengshan Cape or the ‘End of the Sky’, and it is located in Longxudao (Dragon Beard Island) in Rongcheng City, Shandong Province. It gets its name from its location at the eastern end of the Chengshan Range. Chengshan Peak is 200 m above sea level, and it has an E-W width of 0.75 km and a N-S length of 1 km. It has an area of 2.5 km2, is surrounded by the ocean on three sides and connects to the mainland on one side. South Korea is only 94 nautical miles away across the ocean. It is one of the places to witness the earliest sunrise, and so it is called the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’. During the Spring and Autumn Period, it was called ‘Morning Dance’. It is also known as ‘China’s Cape of Good Hope’ and has become a famous tourist destination (Fig. 28).
