Yangbajing Geothermal Spring Landscape

This is a famous geothermal spring in Damxung County, 90 km northwest of Lhasa. The geothermal resource is rich and contains large fountains, geysers, hot springs, thermal springs, boiling springs and hot water lakes. The spring water has a high mineral content, which makes it suitable for bathing and therapeutic use. The steam from the hot springs that flow across Yangbajing, which is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, forms a fascinating natural wonder at the roof of the world, making this area a popular tourist destination (Fig. 1).
