Wetland parks are a type of geopark. They are specific areas with natural (or human-made) marshes, floodplains, peatlands or marine areas no deeper than 6 m at low tide that are used to for ecological protection and restoration, ecotourism, sightseeing, vacations, science popularisation and scientific research. In China, the Shangdong Yellow River Delta National Geopark and Shanghai Chongming Yangtze River Delta National Geopark are wetland geoparks under the management of the Ministry of Land and Resources. The Ministry of Construction manages urban wetland parks, while the State Forestry Administration and the Ministry of Agriculture manage their respective wetland parks. The Ramsar Convention was an international convention on wetlands. China has 36 wetlands, including the Zhalong Nature Reserve, listed in the List of Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar sites).
