Wangwushan-Daimeishan Global Geopark, China

This geopark is located west of Jiyuan City and north of Xin’an County. The geopark has an area of 986 km², and it became a global geopark in 2006. The park has five scenic areas, namely, Wangwushan and Xiaolangdi, including Tiantan Mountain, Xiaolangdi, Wulongkou, the Three Gorges of the Yellow River, and Xiaogoubei. It is a landscape with typical geological sections and landscapes as well as ecological and cultural landscapes. The geological features include (1) Wangwu Mountain, the Yellow River Valley and Emei Mountain, which has a magnificent landscape of mountains and rivers; (2) Taiguyu and Yuanguyu, which contain Palaeozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata and several named stratigraphic profiles; (3) evidence of the Precambrian Zhongti movement, Wangwushan movement and other geological events that illustrate the geological evolution of northern China and other parts of the world; (4) the Jiyuan Basin, which formed an integral part of the Ordos Basin in the Mesozoic and contains...
