This national park is located in Indonesia’s Banten Province in the westernmost part of the island of Java, south of the Sunda Strait. It covers an area of 1,230 km2. The park consists of the Ujung Kulon Peninsula and several offshore islands, including the Krakatoa Nature Reserve. In addition to its natural beauty and outstanding geological scientific value (especially for inland volcanic research), the park also has the largest remaining lowland rainforest in the Javanese plains.
