This site is located along the border between northeastern Hungary and southeastern Slovakia. After two extensions in 2000 and 2008, its core protection area has reached 565 km2. It is a typical temperate karst natural system with diverse landforms, and it contains 712 confirmed and unusually concentrated cave systems.
