This mining park is located in the southern part of Tongling City in southern Anhui Province. The total area is 4.95 km2, and it was accredited as a national mining park in 2010. Its copper mining history covers more than 3,000 years; it can be traced back to Shang and Zhou, flourished during the Han and Tang Dynasties, and continues to the present. Inside the mining park, visitors can observe copper mining and metallurgic relics from before the Tang Dynasty. Old mining facilities as well as modern copper mining processes, excavations, and ventilation and transportation equipment are also displayed. In addition, previous mining programmes and production techniques as well as the results of geological prospecting research at this site have been included in the teaching materials at colleges and universities for the study of mineralogy and metallurgy.
