Synonym: Gorge landscape ; Valley landscape
A canyon landscape is a type of river valley landscape. It differs from the narrow gorge and cliffy gorge landscapes in that the valley slopes always have erosional terraces and valley shoulders. Stable gravel shores or rock shores are always present on the valley floor, and traces of the wide valley can be found at the top of the valley. Canyons often develop in regions of substantial neotectonic movement, such as the Three Gorges (Fig. 7).
