This belt is located in Hunan Province, southern Jiangxi Province, Fujian Province, Guangdong Province, and parts of Guangxi and Zhejiang Provinces in southern China. It lies in the vast areas between southern Ghiangnania and northern Cathaysia. In the past, some scientists called it the South China and East Caledonian Fold Belt or the South China and East Caledonian Orogenic Belt. In the late Palaeozoic, this region became a stable block. In the Mesozoic, the area was greatly affected by the subduction of the Pacific Plate accompanied by strong volcanic activity and magmatic intrusions, followed by the deposition of red strata of terrestrial facies in fault basins. This eventually resulted in the formation of a typical Danxia landform in eastern China, which has provided significant geological resources for tourism development.
