Soil geography is a discipline that studies the relationship between soil and the geographical environment. It is an interdisciplinary field between soil science and physical geography that focuses on the occurrence, development, classification, and distribution of soil, soil surveys and the mapping and zoning of soil. It provides a scientific basis for planning, rational use, soil improvement and the evaluation and protection of soil resources.
