This geopark is located in the southwestern Fangshan District, Beijing, along the middle and upper reaches of the Juma River. It spans Shidu and Zhangfang and borders Yishui County in Hebei Province to the west and south. The total area is 301 km2. It became a national geopark in 2004. In the Juma River Valley from Zhangfang to Pingshuo, the tributaries of the Daqing River run through distinctive landscapes that have been named Shidu. The main geological features in the geopark include surface karst and valley landforms, underground karst caves and sedimentary and structural features. The geopark has a northern karst landscape with a variety of geological geoheritage sites and good natural and cultural environments.
