A scenic byway is a road that has aesthetic scenic, natural, cultural, historical and recreational values and is worth saving and renovating from the perspective of archaeology. It is difficult to provide a clear definition of a scenic byway. In a broad sense, a scenic byway refers to a route with dual functions of transportation and landscape appreciation. In a narrow sense, it refers to various specific forms of scenic routes, including scenic highways (paths), greenways and park roads, scenic roads, heritage corridors, and cultural routes.
