It is difficult to provide a clear definition of a scenic byway. In a broad sense, a scenic byway refers to a route with dual functions of transportation and landscape appreciation. In a narrow sense, it refers to various specific forms of scenic routes, including scenic highways (paths), greenways and park roads, scenic roads, heritage corridors, and cultural routes.
