Synonyms: Sanqingshan National Geopark, Jiangxi
This geopark is located in Shangrao City in Jiangxi Province. It has a total area of 229 km2and became a global geopark in 2012. The geopark is a masterpiece of earth science and records the evolution and development of the Earth over one billion years. It contains many geological features which are connected to sedimentology, stratigraphy, palaeontology, petrology, geotectonics, geodynamics and geomorphology. It contains valuable geological heritage relics and biological components from more than 200 million years of evolution. In addition to being an ecological paradise, it contains a typical Yanshanian granite body with Yu Jingfeng (1,816 m above sea level) as the main peak. It was named the ‘Sanqingshan-style granite peak landscape’. The ‘Shuchun Goddess’ (spheroidal weathering body) and ‘Gigantic Python’ (granite pillars) are landmarks of Sanqingshan.
