Botanic gardens have tourism value and can be divided into two major categories, namely, large-scale comprehensive botanical gardens and special thematic botanical gardens. Many botanical gardens are meant for research but also for visits by tourists. For example, the Beijing Botanical Garden, Lushan Botanical Garden, Yunnan Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden and the botanical gardens for subtropical plants in Hangzhou and Nanjing receive millions of visitors every year and have become important tourism resources.
