This book was edited by Xun Zhao et al. and was published by Geological Publishing House in 2010. The International Symposium on Geopark Development was held in global geoparks or national geoparks in China, such as in May 2006 in Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, in June 2007 in Lushan (Mount Lu), Jiangxi Province, and in August 2009 in Taishan (Mount Tai), Shandong Province. The theme of the papers centres on different aspects of geoparks, including their scientific value, public education, classification and comparison of geoheritage sites in China and overseas, geoheritage protection technologies, research and cooperation, geopark management and the development of the regional economy.
