This geopark is located in the Ligurian region of northwestern Italy and has an area of 390 km2. It became a global geopark in 2005. The park comprises ten municipal districts, including all areas of the natural park in Beguaparco. In terms of science, aesthetics and education, the Geopark Beguaparco is the most striking area in Liguria. The region had an important role in the reconstruction of the geological history of Italy, especially the evolution of the Alps and its connection with the Apennines.
