Outwash Terrace Landscape, Fluvioglacial Terrace Landscape

This is a landscape comprising terraces formed by glacial outwash deposition or erosion. Glacial erosion during the glaciation period and weathering of the bedrock due to low temperatures result in abundant debris, which greatly exceed the carrying capacity of the meltwater stream. Eventually, the debris piles up in the valley in front of the glacier. During the interglacial period, the amount of debris decreases, and the amount of meltwater increases. As the flow energy increases, the erosion becomes stronger, cutting the sediments that accumulated during the glacial period to form terraces, which are called outwash terraces.
