The North China Platform is located between the Yinshan-Yanshan and Qinling-Dabie orogenic belts and covers northern China, the southern part of northeastern China and the Bohai Bay area. In 1945, Huang Jiqing called it the ‘Sino Korean Platform’. Due to its small size and greater activity than other platforms, it is also called the ‘Sino Korea paraplatform’. It is China’s oldest platform. Rocks with isotopic ages older than 3.8 billion years have been found in eastern Hebei Province and Anshan, Liaoning Province. The base of the North China Platform aggregated 1.8 billion years ago during the Zhongtiao Orogeny. A non-metamorphosed layer formed above it in the Mesoproterozoic Era. Approximately 2.4 billion years ago, the original North China Platform disintegrated. Massive intrusions of magma and volcanic eruptions occurred in its eastern part, and the crust was strongly folded, accompanied by the formation of nappe structures.
