Minle Manganese Deposit, Xiangtan, Hunan

This is a large manganese deposit that formed by multi-source chemical and biochemical precipitation in gulf-lagoon facies rocks. It is located in Huayuan County, Hunan Province. The Minle manganese deposit is shaped like a northeast-southwest-trending oval. The ores are in black shale of the Sininan Minle Formation and are mainly sedimentary manganese carbonate ores. The main mineral of the ores is rhodochrosite. The ores are typically middle- to low-grade manganese carbonate mixed with high contents of iron and phosphorus.
