This is a famous spring landscape in Taiwan, which is located on the Jinshan Fault in the Datun Volcano Group in the Beitou District, Taipei. It has been Taiwan’s most famous hot spring district for more than a century. The water of the Beitou Hot Spring mainly comes from the Diregu (Thermal Valley, Hell Valley) and Longfeng Valley below Xingyi Road. The hot spring that flows from Diregu Valley is clear and green like jade, which led to the name Green Sulphur. The spring water from Longfeng Valley is known as the Star Spring, and it contains white sulphur. Both kinds of spring water are effective at treating chronic arthritis, muscle aches and chronic dermatitis (Fig. 16).
