Leopard limestone is a limestone with yellow or reddish brown irregular stripes, and it gets its name from this leopard skin-like pattern. It forms due to dolomitization during its formation. This rock is common in the Cambrian and Ordovician strata in China. Leopard limestone usually has a high dolomite content, and the matrix materials are mainly microcrystalline or cryptocrystalline calcite.
