This is a lava landscape. When lava flows on the ground surface, gas is released due to the accumulation of the gas in the lava or the lava encountering a small amount of water. As a result, the lava continues to flow and forms a small emission hole with no base, which is a lava pool. The lava cools around this secondary emission outlet to form circular or radial fissures. There are small lava pools in the volcanic basalt flow at the Fenglu Ridge Volcano in Haikou and the pool clusters in the volcanic basalt lava in Zhangzhou Littoral National Geopark in Fujian Province (Fig. 14).
