Kang Guo (1936–2012) was a native of Pingyao County, Shanxi Province. In 1962, he graduated from the Department of Geology and Geography at Lanzhou University. He was a research fellow at the Institute of Geographical Sciences, Hebei Academy of Sciences and a director of the Tourism Research Office of the Institute. He published more than 70 papers and was involved in writing ‘An Introduction to Tourism Earth Science’. He was the author of seven monographs, including ‘Zhang Shiyan Landform’ and ‘Tourism Development Research’. He made important contributions to the development of tourism in Hebei Province.
