This park is located in the Hengshan District, Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province. It covers an area of 21 km2 and was approved as one of the first group of national mining parks in August 2005. It was built on a coal mine subsidence area, and it highlights coal history and culture. The park has several scenic areas, including Hongqi Lake, an underground adventure scenic area, the Dahengshan Coal Mine, the Nanshan Forests and Huoshaoshan Mountain. The park has a buffer zone for developing tourist facilities, which has a coal-mining theme area in the centre and eight functional areas around it, including the Coal Mine Culture Exhibition, entertainment and adventure scenic area, romantic scenic area, miner recuperation resort, bird’s-eye view scenic area and a folk customs and food area.
