Jiqing Huang (1904–1995) was a native of Renshou County, Sichuan Province. He was a geologist. He was the director of the Central Geological Survey of China, academician of Academia Sinica and professor of geology at Peking University. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, he served as the director of the Southwest Geological Survey, the director of the Southwest Geological Bureau, the chief engineer of the Petroleum Geological Bureau of the Ministry of Geology, the vice president of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, and the director of the Geological Society of China. He was one of the founders of Chinese geotectonics and established the theory of multi-cycle tectonic movements. He made significant contributions to the study of tectonics in China, the compilation of geological maps and the development of petroleum geology.
