Interpretative Panels and Boards, Upgrading

  • Reference work entry
  • First Online:
Dictionary of Geotourism

All interpretive panels and boards must be reviewed and updated on a regular basis, usually every 1 or 2 years, for various reasons. One is the fading of the colour of the printing due to UV light as a result of the continuous exposure to sunlight, ageing, graffiti or damage by vandalism. In addition, the materials of the panels and boards, such as steel, may rust due to wet conditions. Other reasons include improvements and updates to the content to make it more accurate, easy to understand and interesting to visitors.
