This is a type of swamp landscape that is also known as an oligotrophic swamp. It is a swamp in an advanced stage. These swamps are mainly located in flat watersheds at high elevations, and the water is supplied by precipitation. The plants lack nutrients, and the peat ash content is less than 4%. These swamps are dominated by oligotrophic plants such as Sphagnum moss. In China, high swamps are mainly located in the Daxing’anling, Xiaoxing’anling, Changbai Mountain and Shennongjia areas.
