Heritage tourism is a type of tourism that attracts people to visit heritage sites to appreciate the natural heritage and experience or learn about the cultural heritage. It is a high-end field of tourism that focuses on nature and history. China has some of the richest natural and cultural heritage in the world and has established more than 30 world heritage sites. The successful application of the Danxia Landform World Heritage Site in 2011 and the establishment of 38 global geoparks (by May 2018) have greatly enhanced the status of China’s natural heritage tourism around the world.
