This park is located in the Aihui District, Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province, and it covers an area of 698 km2. It became a national mining park in 2010. The park is located in the transition zone between the two level structural units in the Greater Khingan Mountain Basin system and the Lesser Khingan Mountains-Zhangguangcai Basin and Range system, in the transition zone between the older topography of the Greater Khingan Mountains and the older topography of the Lesser Khingan Mountains, and between the cryolithozone and the non-cryolithozone. The placer gold deposits are located in a unique structure. The Handaqi Rift Valley, which runs through the park, is the only early Palaeozoic rift valley on the eastern continental margin of the Eurasian Plate.
