Digital Ethical Dilemmas in Teaching

Introduction

In highly technological regions (such as Western Europe, North America, and parts of Asia and Oceania), educational reform and technological development have coalesced to provide a policy push for the increased use of digital technologies at all levels of education. Schools must no longer simply teach computer skills. Digital technology must be embedded in the process of education, such that education itself is technologically mediated across the curriculum as a matter of necessity (Selwyn 2016). From early childhood, K-12, in higher education and the larger educational administrative systems, there is an increasing tendency to use digital technologies for teaching and learning, monitoring and assessment, recording, and ranking purposes. Educational reform has increased the technologization of the education systems and given rise new forms of ethical dilemmas.
