Definition

Detailed design is the last stage of technical design and it completes the design of the performance, structure, electrical, materials, components, processing, assembly and testing of the submersible system, and forms a complete set of technical design documents and drawings, which can be used as the basis for the next construction, integration, and test.

Basic Introduction to the Design Process

The design and associated processes are diagrammed in Fig. 1 in a chronological order as (1) pre-design, (2) design, and (3) post-design processes (Allmendinger 1990). In this section, they are introduced briefly from the perspective of the mission system to provide an overview of the entire subject.
