Definition
Various experimental techniques for aquaculture structures have been developed for different purposes. Towing and force oscillation tests on an integrated fish cage system or a single fish net plane are utilized to investigate the mathematical models of the hydrodynamic force coefficients in current and waves, respectively, which are an essential input for numerical simulations. Such experiments can also be implemented in a circulating water channel, which can produce uniform and oscillatory currents. Seakeeping experiment technologies for aquaculture structures in waves and currents are also very popular and have mainly been used for the analysis of the dynamic performance of integrated structures; these technologies can provide important verification data for numerical methods.
