Definition

Decommissioning is a general term for a formal process to remove something from an active status. Decommissioning of subsea facilities refers to the safe abandonment of subsea production facilities and associated infrastructure (such as wellheads, pipelines, umbilicals, and so on) that are no longer operational.

Decommissioning Importance of Subsea Facilities

Decommissioning is a normal part of the offshore oil and gas lifecycle. Decommissioning of subsea facilities is an action taken to fully consider the safety and environmental protection of workers after the expiration of the use of subsea facilities or for other reasons.

Subsea facilities are playing a very important role in the creation of cost-efficient field developments.
