Definition

The single anchor leg mooring (SALM) is a specific type of single point mooring (SPM) which is anchored by a tensioned leg to a base on the sea floor. A hose system and a fluid swivel concentric with the anchor leg permit cargo to flow between the moored tanker and an underwater pipeline, while the tanker swings around the mooring (Flory et al. 1972; Luo 2015) (Fig. 1).
