Abstract

Leprosy (Hansen’s disease) is a chronic granulomatous infectious disease affecting skin, peripheral nerves, mucous membranes, and ocular structures. It is caused by Acid Fast bacillus Mycobacterium leprae. Ocular complications occur in a majority of patients affected by the disease The wide spectrum of clinical signs include madarosis, lagophthalmos, ectropion, entropion, corneal anaesthesia, beading of corneal nerves, interstitial keratitis, granulomatous anterior uveitis and iris atrophy.
