Suizid – Prävalenz, Bedeutung und Implikationen für die Prävention und Gesundheitsförderung

Zusammenfassung

In Deutschland nehmen sich jährlich ungefähr 10.000 Menschen das Leben, die Anzahl der Suizidversuche wird mindestens 10 Mal höher geschätzt. Suizidalität entsteht im Zusammenspiel von individuell-biographischen, somatischen und gesellschaftlich-kulturellen Einflussfaktoren und ist somit ein komplexes Phänomen. Aufgrund der Komplexität dieses Phänomens ist Suizidprävention eine vielschichtige Aufgabe, die über den Bereich des Gesundheitswesens und der Gesundheitspolitik hinausgeht. Wirkungsvolle Suizidprävention schließt immer eine Intervention auf unterschiedlichen Handlungsebenen ein. Dazu gehören unter anderem die Enttabuisierung der Suizidthematik, eine verantwortungsvolle Berichterstattung über Suizide in den Medien und niedrigschwellige Angebote für Suizidgefährdete. Für die Behandlung suizidgefährdeter Patienten sind die Kenntnis von Risikofaktoren und Warnzeichen sowie vor allem der Aufbau einer tragfähigen Beziehung erforderlich.
