Zusammenfassung
Durch die Entwicklung von zielgerichteten Medikamenten („targeted drugs“), deren Wirksamkeit auf der Inhibition bedeutsamer biologischer Prozesse der Tumorzellen und anderer Zellen im Tumor beruht, hat die Kenntnis molekularer Veränderungen solider Tumoren einen neuen Stellenwert im klinischen Alltag erhalten. Darüber hinaus bilden sie die Grundlage der „molekularen Diagnostik“. Diese eignet sich nicht nur zum Nachweis von Tumoren, sondern wird uns in die Lage versetzen, die Prognose und das Therapieansprechen für den einzelnen Patienten individuell zu definieren. Dies kann z. B. für die Einschätzung der Prognose nach operativer Therapie, die Wahl einer Therapie (z. B. adjuvant) oder die Auswahl von „targeted drugs“ genutzt werden.
