Bernard David Coleman (∗July 5, 1930, in New York City, USA) was a J.W. Gibbs professor (Thermodynamics) at Rutgers University (retired in 2011). He has made contributions to thermodynamics, biology, chemistry, and physics.
Education
Bernard D. Colman obtained his Bachelor of Science (cum laude) at Indiana University in 1951 and his Master of Science at Yale University in 1952. He finished his doctoral studies with the Doctor of Philosophy degree at the Yale University in 1954.
Professional Carrier
Bernard D. Coleman started his professional carrier in 1954 as research chemist at Carothers Research Laboratory of the du Pont Company, Wilmington, Delaware; from 1957 up to 1988, he served as a senior fellow at Mellon Institute, Pittsburgh. He was appointed as professor at Carnegie Mellon University of mathematics (1967–1988), of biology (1974–1988), and of chemistry (1984–1988). Since 1988 he was a professor of thermodynamics at Rutgers University. In 2011 he was retired.
