Definitions
Biomechanics – the development, extension, and application of principles and concepts of mechanics to study living things and the materials or structures with which they interact.
Constitutive Relation – a mathematical description of the behavior of a material in response to applied loads and under conditions of interest, which depends upon the particular internal constitution of the material.
Hemodynamics – the study of blood flow and pressure within the vasculature using methods of fluid mechanics, both experimental and computational.
Growth – an active, cell-mediated process by which mass is changed at cellular, tissue, organ, or organism levels. Negative growth is often referred to as atrophy.
