Zusammenfassung

Die Physiologie des Verdauungstraktes von Neugeborenen, Säuglingen und Kindern unterscheidet sich nicht grundsätzlich von der des Erwachsenen. Das Alter des noch wachsenden Kindes bestimmt jedoch nicht nur Länge und Größe der an der Verdauung beteiligten Organe, sondern auch Entwicklung und Ausreifung physiologischer Funktionen. Daher wird in diesem Kapitel auf die altersabhängige Entwicklung physiologischer Funktionen eingegangen. Diese spielt v. a. bei Frühgeborenen, Neugeborenen und jungen Säuglingen eine herausragende Rolle.
