FormalPara Synthese – Verteilung – Abbau – EliminationOxycodon wird im menschlichen Organismus zu Noroxycodon und Oxymorphon metabolisiert. Die Abbauprodukte werden danach überwiegend konjugiert. Oxycodon und seine Metabolite werden im Urin ausgeschieden.
FormalPara Halbwertszeit2–5 Stunden (Plasma).
FormalPara Funktion – PathophysiologieOxycodon wirkt analgetisch und anxiolytisch und die Symptome bei Überdosierung sind ähnlich wie bei Morphin (s. Morphin(derivate)). Es spielt besonders in den USA eine Rolle beim Drogenabusus („heroin for rich“). Häufig werden die Tabletten zerkleinert, um sie dann z. B. in gelöster Form zu injizieren.

FormalPara AnalytikHochleistungs-Flüssigkeitschromatographie (HPLC), GC-MS, LC-MS/MS. Nur wenige Immunoassays (IA; s. Immunoassay) weisen spezifisch Oxycodon im Urin nach. Opiat-IA sind meist zu unempfindlich, um Oxycodon selbst bei Intoxikation nachzuweisen.

FormalPara InterpretationTherapeutischer Bereich (S, P): 0,02–0,05 mg/L; toxisch: >0,2 mg/L; komatös/letal: >0,6–5,0 mg/L.
