FormalPara Synthese – Verteilung – Abbau – EliminationGlu ist ein Schlüsselmolekül im Metabolismus der Zellen. Durch Transaminierung von α-Oxoglutarsäure mittels Glutamatdehydrogenase entsteht Glu und Ammonium, das in der Leber zu Harnstoff weiter verstoffwechselt wird.
FormalPara PathophysiologieGlu ist im ZNS der häufigste exzitatorische Neurotransmitter. Es wird in den Synaptosomen gespeichert und durch Nervenimpulse freigesetzt. Postsynaptische Rezeptoren (NMDA- und Glu-Rezeptoren) binden Glu und werden aktiviert. Glu ist die Vorstufe von GABA (γ-Aminobuttersäure als Neurotransmitter).
