Zusammenfassung
Die Theorie von Molodenski befasst sich mit der Bestimmung der Erdfigur und des äußeren Schwerefeldes der Erde aus global verteilten terrestrischen Schwere- und Nivellementdaten. Das entsprechende skalar freie Geodätische Randwertproblem wurde von M. S. Molodenski in den 40er-Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts formuliert und insbesondere in den Jahren 1970–1990 mathematisch analysiert. Praktische Anwendungen, die seit ca. 1980 mit dem Vorliegen umfangreicher gravimetrischer und topographischer Datensätze möglich wurden, führten zu methodischen Fortentwicklungen des Geodätischen Randwertproblems, während neuartige satellitengestützte Messverfahren eine Anpassung der Theorie von Molodenski erforderlich machen. Für die Bestimmung von Gebrauchshöhen in der Praxis wird die Theorie von Molodenski – nach adäquater Modifikation – auch weiterhin ihre Bedeutung behalten.
