General Information
The species of the genus of the so-called Filarioidea (subfamily Onchocercidae) are distributed worldwide. A. reconditum: Adult worms parasitize in the subcutis of canids (prevalence rates up to 55 %), microfilariae are found in the blood, and vectors are fleas and mallophages. Distribution: South Europe, America, Asia, and Australia.
- 2.
A. viteae: Adult worms parasitize in the subcutaneous tissue of rodents (Meriones), larvae are found in the blood, and vectors are argasid ticks; distribution in deserts.
